The History of Mardi Gras World

Mardi Gras World is a unique and fascinating place that has been a part of New Orleans’ Mardi Gras celebrations for over 50 years. The world-famous float makers and prop makers have been creating elaborate and colorful floats for parades and parties for decades. The history of Mardi Gras World dates back to the 1950s, when a group of local artists and craftsmen came together to create a studio where they could design and build elaborate floats and props.

The Art of Float Making

The art of float making is a highly specialized and intricate process that requires great skill and creativity. The process begins with a design concept, which is then brought to life through a combination of traditional craftsmanship and modern technology. The floats are made from a variety of materials, including wood, metal, and fiberglass, and are often decorated with intricate carvings, paintings, and other forms of artistic expression. Some of the most famous floats in Mardi Gras history have been created by the artists at Mardi Gras World, including the iconic “Mardi Gras Queen” float, which has been a staple of the parades for decades.

The Art of Leadership

The officers’ training experience was not just about art and culture; it was also about leadership and teamwork. The club officers participated in a series of activities designed to test their leadership skills, including a four-hour float making class hosted by a local artist. The class was led by Domatron Graves, a New Orleans native who shared his expertise and passion for art and culture.*

The Takeaways
